I know many of you are well aware of the issues that women face with heart disease. But on the off chance that you don't, please make sure that you read this article on CNN about the new heart guidelines for women.
When you think of someone having a heart attack, if you're like me, you picture it being a man. But heart disease is more prevalent in women than we ever thought. I would summarize some of the recommendations for you on how to lessen your chances, but you really should read the whole thing for yourself. Seriously.
If our hearts don't work, the rest just doesn't matter. Please be good to yourself.
Thank you for posting this Kris. When I was 34 I had a lipid profile done and discovered that I was at 3X risk of heart disease. And that was only because the risks didn't go any higher.
Diet and exercise didn't work well enough for me, so I've been on cholesterol meds since then. Fortunately, my genetic makeup means that these work very well for me. At the moment, my BMI is too high, but I'm working on lowering it.
Heart disease is the #1 killer of women.. yet all you hear women talking about is breast cancer.
