So much going on in the world to blog about right now. From politics to Britney, from Ed Bradley to the upcoming holiday Christmas season. Where does one begin?
This photo made me chuckle at the caption possibilities. The first thing that came to mind was in
relation to the story I read some time back about Bush's playful flatulence in the White House. Can't you just see it here in the photo of he and Madam Speaker Pelosi (WOW doesn't it feel GREAT to say that???!!!),
Bush: "Here it comes, Nancy, are you ready???"
Pelosi: "You better fuckin' NOT George!"
I can't help but chuckle.
Then there is Britney. Poor Britney. Bad choices galore. In case you haven't heard, she is divorcing K-Fed. Was there ever any doubt that he would soon be Fed-Ex? (a clever new name, don't you think? I've been seeing it all over the media today). Apparently Kev had a rough night at the House of Blues last night where they had to GIVE AWAY tickets to get people in the door. And he says he wants custody of the kids. Personally I think that they would be better off with child protective services than with either of their parents.
And on to Mr. Ed. I had no idea that he was even ill, but Ed Bradley from "60 Minutes" died today of leukemia. I always liked Ed. He seemed to have the perfect blend between being hard nosed and having a soft touch. My thoughts to Ed's family and friends for their (and our) loss.
Finally, for now anyway, the upcoming holiday season. I'm ready for it (mentally) and look forward to all of the festivities. I love decorating the house with my family, the cookies baking, the plans to be made, gifts to be thought of, people to hug and celebrate with. It's all good. I saw this morning that there was such a backlash last year when the evil empire WalMart changed their greeter's message from Merry Christmas to Happy Holidays (shame on them for trying to be inclusive), that they have decided to go back to the original Christmas greeting this year. I'm guessing that's because their largest customer base is in the Bible Belt anyway.
Oh, one last thing...I think that the most unfortunate result on election day was Arizona passing the "English as our official state language" proposition. Apparently we don't have enough things to divide us, Arizonans feels like they have to bring language into it. How about let's resolve our issues with religious differences, sexual orientation differences, and political differences BEFORE we bring something else into the mix. Please, people, stop the madness!
Here's something weird about me that happened when I read Ed's obit. I never realized that he was black. And as for Britney, she is a sad case--but K-Fed is even worse.
