I had to chuckle when I saw this story on CNN today...
Police: Nurse, 51, kills intruder with bare hands
PORTLAND, Oregon (AP) -- A nurse returning from work discovered an intruder armed with a hammer in her home and strangled him with her bare hands, police said. Susan Kuhnhausen, 51, ran to a neighbor's house after the confrontation Wednesday night. Police found the body of Edward Dalton Haffey 59, a convicted felon with a long police record.
Haffey, about 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds, had convictions including conspiracy to commit aggravated murder, robbery, drug charges and possession of burglary tools. Neighbors said Kuhnhausen's size -- 5-foot-7 and 260 pounds -- may have given her an advantage.
MAY have given her an advantage? Chalk one up for the big girls!!!
**Note: I do not enjoy or condone killing of any kind. I can understand true self-defence, however.
All I could think of though was--how does someone in health care get THAT large??

Well, I just read in NYC about a wheelchair grandma who packed a pistol and shot that would-be-robber. Go granny.

She's 5'7" and 260 lbs. Do you even know what that height/weight actually looks like? You might be surprised. I'm 5'5" and 250 lbs. If you saw me, you'd think I was about to give birth, and that's about it. I wouldn't be surprised it that nurse was a wall of muscle.
On another note...
I remember reading about an attempted home invasion. I think it was in Winnipeg. The woman was in her 80's and she fought and ran off her assailant by stabbing him with her knitting needle.
