The more we drive around different parts of the country, the more things we see that humor, amaze, and/or shock us. On our last trip to Denver we found 3 pretty funny signs. Funny enough that the kids made me take photos (OK, so I was drooling to take the photos so that I could blog about them, but they didn't need to know that). The one to the right was one of the best. This was a gas station/convenient store in Steamboat Springs, CO. We just had to go into the store and wouldn't you know, they were selling t-shirts and hats with the logo. Of course Mr. 14 year old couldn't resist and bought the hat, complete with the plastic mesh backing and foam front. You know, the cheap, trucker kind. The kind he wouldn't be caught dead in...unless it said "Kum & Go" on it! He's not allowed to wear it around our town, or around the grandparents, and to be honest he doesn't spend much time anywhere else, so it sits. In his room. For his friends to giggle at. Yes, 14 year old boys giggle too.
This one was also found in Steamboat Springs. Hmmmm. Makes me wonder about this town. Apparently it is quite the Christian, right-wing, mecca. So much for family values. I just wonder what kind of place sells used books and Tupperware in the same store. Since they also sell Avon, I'm guessing that this is the store that some couple opened up together. "Honey, I want to open a sports cards store." "OK sweety, but I would like to sell my Avon and my Tupperware also." "Sure doll, I can sell comics too. And maybe we can throw in some books, and some cheesy gifts." I don't know for sure what this place was like because I just couldn't muster the courage to partake. Also, the next shop down was an old-fashioned candy store with caramel & peanut covered apples. Priorities, ya know.
Our next, and finally entry comes from a mall in Denver. Again, a pretty conservative town. But this just made me laugh so hard, I think I peed my pants. It was a store that sold nothing but bean bag chairs. Seriously! Now, I might expect to find a store (and a sign) like this my beloved Berkeley, but Denver? Ya'll should be ashamed. I think my kids peed their pants to0. We stalked this store for a while. Didn't go in though. I don't think I'll ever sit on another bean bag chair again.
Very interesting signs! I loved the books and booty one especially. I adore books and hmm....

That first sign. Oh my God. That first sign.
Kris, that first sign. Oh my God.
I am reduced to mindless repetition, I am so blown away.

Love the signs! We have a OB/GYN here named...get ready...Dr. Kum. I kid you not. Maybe he's part owner of that store...

I see that sign all of the time since I live in Steamboat Springs. Too bad you remember those signs more than Steamboat. Enjoyed your blog. Thanks!
