Thank you SO much, all of you, for all of your good karma, thoughts, and prayers. Payton got an acceptance letter to Serra High today. He is beyond thrilled. As a reality check though, he is dealing with the fact that one of his very best friends did NOT get in. It looks like he is the only one within the "group" that did not. The boys are learning about what it means to be a friend right now. It is easy to be a friend when things are going well. Right now, their friendship means more to this one kid than it ever has before.
Of course I cried when I found out. I cried again when I realized that Grace had called me 3 times on my cell phone to find out what the verdict was; remembering that this was a big day for me meant SO much. Thank you Grace. Really.
Anyway. We are all so proud and will sleep well tonight.
It is hard, but breathe deep:
1. Remember, Serra may have an anomalous year, and have a low yield, and BF will get in on round 2
2. BF may be a really loveable guy....without the intellectual chops to do adequately at Serra.
The worst admissions mistake is to let in a kid who can't keep up academically.

YEAH! That is good news, but bittersweet because of the friend. Life is like that though. There have been times when one of my children was the only one of her friends not invited to a birthday party, or the only one to not get an award at a gymnastics meet. It's important to start to learn about the real word and its disappointments.

Congratulations!
So sorry about your son's friend. He will most likely be fine -- but extra effort will have to be made to keep him included. I've only dealt with it on the elementary level (last year, most of my daughter's friends got in by random drawing to the hot magnet school in our area; my girl got left behind. We have kept up social engagements with the others and Megan has made lots of new friends at the old school.)

Sorry to hear about the friend, but I am so very glad to hear about the school!
I hope to hear something in the next few weeks regarding the schools for my son.

Way to go Payton!!
I hate that his friend didn't make it, but I'm sure there will be good things in his future no matter where he goes, especially with good friends in his life.
