In February of 2006 there was conference held in Monterey, CA called TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design). The attendees and speakers/performers are 1,000 of todays brightest, most creative people on the planet. I HIGHLY encourage you watch the videos available on TED Talks, especially the one by Ken Robinson who is an expert on innovation and human resources. It takes about 20 minutes and I think you will LOVE what he has to say. Basically he is making a case for nurturing creativity in public schools rather than squelching it. It has made me completely re-think how I want my children to go about their education. You can visit the TED blog and you can also subscribe to the audio or video podcast on iTunes (search for TED in the podcasting area).
I'm going to listen to the one by Majora Carter next. Let me know what you think!
