Today, Mr. Mom on a Mission and I have been married for 18 years!

We have been together exclusively for 22 years (as of Christmas of 2008)!

Happy Anniversary, to us. And here is reason #753 of why I love him so much. Both of us have been really crazy at work, his work taking up a lot of time in the evenings...and this morning I get this email from him:

"We have a 6:30 reservation at Town.  I will take care of dinner for the kids."

Thank you so much hunny! I can't wait to sit down and have a relaxing, civilized, delicious dinner with the man that I would marry over and over again every day.

Cool Hand Luke, Butch Cassidy, Fast Eddy....Paul, Pop pop....

The only movie star I have ever met and spent time with....he was more than a movie star...he was a kind, genuine, big hearted man's man who loved Coors Light and sitting in his rocking chair on the porch of his cabin. He loved racing cars and spending time with his grandkids. He made this world a better place to live for so many, especially those who spent time at the Hole In the Wall Gang Camp, which is where I met him.

Paul, I'll never forget the time I was honored enough to have shared with you and your beautiful family. You touched my heart and will be missed. We will take good care of Mark and Kelly and the kids. They loved you so deeply. We are lucky to have so many ways to remember you. Peace.

She could be an interesting follow-up to an 8 year Obama administration :0)

Getting ready for Thanksgiving?

I know it's only September, but as the air begins to cool (from 100 down to 85) and leaves get ready to turn colors, my thoughts are slowly turning to the holidays that will be upon us quicker than Sarah Palin can pull the trigger on an AK-47. Below is a video I saw last year year for the first time that I thought was informative, strange, funny and festive all at the same time. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Thanks to my wonderful Mother, I was able to spend about 2 hours at the spa. It was a birthday gift, and I wasted no time in enjoying it. Dan was in Vegas with the guys this weekend and so I decided to let the boys fend for themselves this afternoon while I went to the spa. My favorite spa is AvantGard in San Carlos, partly because it is less than a mile from my house, but mostly because it is a great quality spa with fabulous services.

I started with a 25 minute aromatherapy bath (pictured here) that featured a beautiful orange blossom bath oil and jacuzzi tub. The little touches are what makes this so wonderful. The flower placed beautifully and simply on the edge of the tub, the mint infused water, and the face towels on ice (in case the heat of the bath is too much).

Next, it was off to my massage. I spent 65 incredible minutes being kneaded and squeezed to the sound of relaxing music and the smell of quality relaxing oils.

I feel relaxed and healthy and ready to face the week.

Always marry a good speller....

Behind the scenese at the DNC

I love this guy's take on the DNC and all that was going on around Denver last week. What I would give to have this guy's sense of humor and writing abiltiy.

 It is long, but worth it. It is a post on the San Diego City Beat site and the guy's name is Nathan Dinsdale. Some of my favorite excerpts:

"No, what most of us strive for is simply to be “fair and balanced,” a term that used to have meaning before it woke up with smeared makeup and a torn dress in the back of a taxi after Fox News slipped a roofie in its drink."

"I am a registered Democrat. I voted for Barack Obama in the primary and donated all of $25 to his campaign (the first and only time I’ve ever donated to a political cause). I’m a semi-militant atheist married to a devout Catholic. I’m an elitist from a tiny rural town. Heard this Jackson 5 song today on the radio. I had to pull over because it is not safe do drive when you have so many tears in your eyes...

I sent my Dad another email last Friday mostly to make sure that he knows that I'm still thinking about him and hoping to hear more from him. I also attached photos of the boys. Yesterday, my Mom gave me a birthday gift to beat all birthday gifts.

She gave me her class ring from high school. When she was a Junior in high school she wanted a class ring, but she also needed a dress to wear to the prom with my Dad. Her parents could not afford both, so she chose the dress to wear to the prom. When my Dad found out about it, he gave her the money to buy the ring. She chose not to buy her school's standard ring, but bought one to look just like his (he went to a different high school).

I'm now wearing it on a chain around my neck. His gift to her, and now her gift to me.
